Our History
These pages were born from one man's travels across the Buckeye state to enjoy the developing network of bikeways. He shared his experiences by way of trail reviews and began providing helpful information for trail users.
Originally known as Cycling Ohio's Rail-Trails & Bikeways, the web site was established in 1999 and has continued to grow and to be well received. Take a peek at the archive pages to sample the past. Our MissionCurrently Ohiobikeways.net is a web site in transition. With the launch of these new pages we're attempting to take the old hobby template to a new level; one where smooth navigation and good resources are the norm. Ultimately our goal is to be the single best resource for Ohio Trail users. That's not something we take lightly or believe we can accomplish in short order. It will take time, effort and dedication and we've rolled up our sleeves to get started! Growing pains will be a natural part of this process. As we grow we continue to appreciate your input, contributions and feedback. Use the email link on the bottom of any page to give us a shout. Visit our review section to make your mark! Our PhilosophyYou will find our web layout to be a bit different from other sites. (See navigation tips for more.) We strive to bring you a good, organized package of Ohio Bikeway info without all the unnecessary trappings. In doing so, we don't shun convention, but we are likely to jettison its shortcomings whenever possible. For example, we like to omit things we find annoying, like small content windows with fine print. We also hate clutter. Not that we mind surfing around a site to see what all the content is about, but we don't want to waste time searching when we know exactly what we want... but can't seem to find. We suspected that if we left enough clutter and ads in the trash, that what remained just might be the essential things -- good content that's easier to find! At least that's our current thinking. Check back from time to time as we'll be sure to post any changes. |
